Argos services are regularly used to collect in-situ observation data. Throughout the world, thousands of meteorological stations at sea or on land send information using Argos services to help scientists understand and predict climate changes. These data from isolated and sometimes inaccessible zones are a very useful source of information for understanding the environment and climate change.

More than 70% of data obtained using Argos services are shared by the oceanography and meteorology communities which assimilate them into numerical forecasting models.

Hydrology

Hydrology is an extremely important field of study, dealing with one of the most valuable resources on Earth: water.

Water information in terms of quantity (level, volumes, etc.) and quality (microbiological parameters, phisico-chemical parameters, turbidity, ect.) obtained through hydrological stations is transmitted to Public and Private water actors using Argos services.
